Despite the wealth of cheap and easy-to-use web design tools available today, professional web design can be difficult to achieve. Here are a few tips and tricks to help you create a professional website for your business brand.

 Put your brand logo at the forefront

If you do not have a polished and professional brand logo for your business, get one. Your logo is an important part of your brand identity and ties your website with your business. If you already have a logo, make sure that it is prominently located on your website. Use high-resolution logos and make sure that it is displayed on every web page on your site. Do not forget to link your logo to your website homepage to make it easier for visitors to navigate.

Ensure that your websites navigation is easy and intuitive

To make sure that your site visitors can find the information they want easily and quickly, use intuitive navigation steps. Keep your primary navigation options on a horizontal menu at the top of your website. Your secondary navigation options can be added under the primary navigation menu or on a side bar on the website.

In other words, with navigation don’t try to be a trendsetter. Most websites follow this norm and you would be better to use your creativity towards other features of your website or in its content. A different navigation layout may confuse people, resulting in your visitors closing your website disappointed without the information they were searching for. The more you keep visitors on your website, the more likely they will read and respond to your call to action and convert to leads.

Avoid clutter on your website

Images and videos convey more information than simple text, but that is no excuse to overload your website with images. At some point, visitors are unable to process all the information if given too many options. Be sure when designing your web site that your pages don’t contain so many images that your visitor will be distracted from the most important aspects of the page. Limit links and options to the footer area of your page to sharpen focus. If there is a lot of text, keep the paragraphs and sentences short.

Keep enough empty space in your website

Too much content in a web page will result in content overload causing many visitors to lose interest. Be sure to maintain enough empty space between images and paragraphs so your visitors can absorb all the information and features on the page. Consistent and adequate use of white space throughout a website can help you focus visitor attention on the key content and actionable items you need for them to see to convert to leads and sales.

Use the right colors in the right places

Colors have different meanings, and using them appropriately on your website content can guide visitors to the most important content. It can also convey the right message about your content. For instance, a neutral color template conveys a modern and elegant appearance. Moreover, the color palette for your website should complement your brand logo and marketing material for consistency. If you don’t have specific colors you use for marketing materials you should consider this. Think of your color palette as an extension of your logo that should be complimentary to it and to your company image and brand.
